Professor J.R. Worsley

14th September 1923 - 2nd June 2003

Professor Jack Reginald Worsley ("JR"), D.Ac. (China), M.Ac. (China), N.D. (England), Professor (China), beloved Master of Classical Five-Element Acupuncture, husband, brother, father and grandfather died in the early hours of June 2, 2003 in Miami, Florida. His wife and partner, Judy Becker Worsley, J.D., D.Ac., was by his side and his daughter, Hilary Skellon, also present at the hospital, was an enduring support.

Despite the western doctors’ prediction that his capacity, following massive heart attacks, would be severely limited by his weakened heart, J.R. continued to travel, teach, consult and be a living example of his conviction that this body/mind/spirit medicine can heal people at the deepest level.

He proclaimed many times that he wanted to work until he died. The last date he saw patients was in his hospital room May 13th. He continued to offer advice, give input into the ongoing Master Apprentice Program (MAP™), Worsley Institute Practitioner Seminar and other business activities until days before he died. He exuded love to everyone present – nurses, doctors and visitors were all treated with respect and impeccable manners.

J.R. was an extraordinary and glorious human being. His loving spirit and his conviction and determination to do what it takes to achieve his goals were phenomenal. Those who were fortunate to meet him remarked on his extremely powerful presence, which was simultaneously and uniquely warm, gentle and kind. He had an extraordinary capacity to subordinate petty personal feelings to his essential and overriding capacity to love and care for other beings. His capacity to forgive and be compassionate and patient was phenomenal. His sense of humor and fun were legendary. His family, friends and professional community will hugely miss him. To so many life without him is unimaginable.

His tireless dedication was focused, with his wife, on consulting, teaching and working on a video library of his work, a new edition of the Point Location Textbook (Vol I), a Spirit of the Points book and a Certification and Continuing Education Program offered through the Worsley Institute.

Professor Worsley is survived by his wife and designated successor, Judy Becker Worsley, J.D., D.Ac., his daughter, Hilary Skellon, of Boulder, CO, USA, his son, John Worsley, of Spain, both of whose mother was the late Ellie (Buckland) Worsley, three grandchildren, Melanie and Russell Skellon and Ben Worsley, his sister, Eva Shilton, brother, Harry Worsley, many nieces and nephews and his beloved feline friend, Wellington Worsley, of Church Hill Farm, Burton Dassett, England.

Professor Worsley will be cremated in Miami, FL, USA. His ashes will return to England with his wife. A UK Memorial Service at All Saint’s Church, Burton Dassett, is scheduled for the 14th September 2003 (JR’s 80th Birthday). A US Memorial Service is scheduled for October 30th, 2003 at The Palms Hotel, Miami Beach, FL. This date and venue was booked to be JR’s U.S. Surprise 80th Birthday Celebration. Instead, a Memorial Service in his honor will be held. For details please visit www.worsleyacupuncture.com.
