Consultation Organization Guidelines (UK)

IMPORTANT: Please ensure you are using the most up to date GUIDELINES AND FORMS, as copies issued prior to May 2004 are now out of date.

Judy Worsley thanks those of you who have organised and participated on Consultation days. The overall experience has been tremendously satisfying, knowing that our community and the public have received service of the highest standard. Thank you for your co-operation, high quality of work and support.

I ORGANISATION:

  1. Organiser arranges the schedule of patients, practitioners and observers, ensuring that these and the Consultation Guidelines for Participants are followed.
  2. In agreeing to be an organiser one agrees to distribute a copy of the Consultation Guidelines for Participants to all practitioners and observers attending a Consultation Day.

II DAILY SCHEDULE AND STRUCTURE:

  1. Patients:
    1. A minimum of 6 patients and a maximum of 10 patients may be seen in the day with J.B. (whether patients have been seen by practitioners or not). Please schedule patients consecutively using times below so there are no gaps.
    2. Practitioners and their partners may be seen privately, with a maximum of 1 private appointment per day.
  2. Scheduling:
    1. 8.45; 9.15; 10.00; 10.30; 11.15; 11.45; 2.30; 3.00; 3.45; 4.15. J.B. will examine each patient. The Group should be ready to start at 8.30 a.m. and will privately discuss the diagnosis and treatment plan and the patient will be treated by his or her practitioner (or designated locum) with J.B. supervising. A minimum of 2 treatment rooms and a meeting room for the group to privately discuss the case will be needed. The expected finishing time for the Group will be approximately 5.30 p.m. to 6.00 p.m.
    2. Allocating Appointments:
Each practitioner should have a minimum of one hour between appointments.
    3. Participants:
      1. A maximum of 6 observers in the morning in addition to the practitioner. Please inform patient that J.B. and observers will be in the treatment room for the examination and treatment.
      2. When allocating observer slots please give priority to practitioners. Clinical students may observe, space permitting, only if they are attending a Five-Element School AND have had a minimum of four days' training at clinical class level with J.R. and JB. This involves working in class, diagnosing and treating patients under JB Worsley's supervision.
      3. It is necessary for the patient’s practitioner to accompany the patient during the consultation unless there are compelling circumstances why not. It is in the best interests of the patient for the practitioner to regularly be present during the consultation of the individual. If a substitute practitioner is arranged, the primary practitioner should be the one to arrange the consultation appointment, the substitute and the file handover, please.
    4. Please use Scheduling Form.

III FEES:
The overall economic structure is up to the discretion of the Organiser, as long as the following conditions are fulfilled:

  1. The daily fee (for 10 patients or less) is payable in UK sterling cash or cheque only. Any additional patients seen by special arrangement incur a proportionate additional fee. Please make one check for the day payable to"J. Worsley". For current fee charges please contact Jo Whitehouse.
  2. Observer fees are up to the discretion of the organiser.
  3. Suggestion - As other organisers have done, you may wish to consider: Patients pay in advance to secure an appointment. A refund is discretionary (based on a replacement patient).
  4. Cancellation: Although every effort is made to consider extenuating circumstances, please note:
    • Consultation Day cancellations with less than 14 days’ notice, the equivalent to six patients’ fees may be incurred; more than 14 days’ notice the equivalent of two patients’ fees may be incurred.
    • Teaching Day cancellations with more than two month’s notice, one third of a lecture day fee will be incurred; less than two months the full fee will be incurred.
  5. If a child (under 12) is seen for only a diagnosis then it may be arranged as half an appointment (sharing an appointment with another child or in certain cases as an added half appointment) the fee is half the usual fee charged. A Preface Sheet is required.

IV FORMS:

  1. On the Consultation Day please supply copies of the J.R. Feedback form, so that one for each patient may be completed by J.B. and returned to the practitioner as a record of the feedback.
  2. Consultation Schedules. Please fill in Schedule Form and have available on the day scheduled.
  3. Please give a copy of the Consultation Guidelines for Participants to each practitioner and observer.
  4. USA practitioners in the UK may require PDAs (originally CEUs). If you wish to apply, please give at least three months’ notice for application to be made to NCCAOM.erson in a few minutes and will be on hand to help.
